Don’t Let Spring Sprung Without Actually Springing and Sprunging

Got that? Us neither! Basically, we don’t want you to miss out on all of the great things you can do outdoors this spring, before it’s gone. Don’t get us wrong, we love summer, fall and winter too, but after what felt like an extremely loooonnnngggg winter, we’re even more excited than ever for the spring.

Here are a few suggestions to help you have an epic spring in 2021!

Go Birding
You know us, we love nothing more than flying through the air. We get to do it daily at Go Ape! The spring is a perfect time to explore outdoors and become a birder. And yes, that is the term for bird watching. Check out the Audubon Society for more info. They have a free app that can help any experienced birder, or even those just getting started. You’ll be amazed at what else you can find in the trees…other than ziplines and ropes courses.

Play Frisbee
We like to say it’s easy to social distance on a zipline, and that definitely applies to playing catch with a frisbee as well. Take advantage of a beautiful day and some open space to toss it around. Here are some fun Frisbee Games you may want to try. If you are going to play frisbee with your dog, here are some tips to get you started.

Fly a Kite
Make sure not to try this anywhere close to a Go Ape zipline…but what a nice way to take advantage of the great outdoors. Whether you’re two or 92, anyone can fly a kite. Mary Poppins really did know what she was talking about! It’s easy to get lost in the sky, dreaming away a beautiful spring day. We are a fan of this article encouraging kids to go fly a kite.

Splash Around
They do say that April showers bring May flowers…so be prepared for some rainy days this spring. Don’t let a little bad weather deter you. We love a rainy day at Go Ape. The course is generally a bit quieter and there is something peaceful about the water dripping off the leaves. But we digress. The next wet day, why not bundle up in your best rain gear and boots and go jump through some puddles? We encourage you to keep your splashing to your group, and not spray unknowing bystanders. That’s not a good way to make friends. Fun for kids, and also for adults who want to feel like a kid again!

Find Your Zen
For many of us, the last year included a virtual shift for yoga classes and other workouts. While those options have helped bridge the gap, with the weather improving there are more options to get outside. Check out MINDBODY to find various options near you. Why sweat in your living room when you can shift your practice into nature.

Take a Hike
The pandemic has led to a significant increase in hiking worldwide. More and more people are finding respite by escaping for a quiet trek through the forest. There are various studies showing that your physical and mental health can be improved through hiking. We want this trend to continue, well into the future. Plus, your furry best friend may love the experience even more than you. A few great resources to find a trail near you include All Trails, the Hiking Project and TrailLink.

Celebrate Earth Day
Our natural surroundings are more important now than ever. We must continue taking action to support the environment, and Earth Day is a great reminder each year. You can celebrate Earth Day from April 20 – 22, 2021. We encourage you to visit EarthDay.org for more information on how you can take part.

These are just a few ideas to help make your spring more sprung! Regardless of what path you take, whether it’s in the trees, through the trees, into the water or a field, we hope you are getting outside and taking advantage some much needed spring weather.
