What to Expect Before, During, and After Your Adventure

If you’ve never visited an aerial adventure park before, it’s natural to have questions about safety.

After all, climbing rope bridges and soaring through the trees isn’t something most people do every day. Whether you’re planning a family outing, a birthday celebration, a corporate event, or your very first zipline adventure, you deserve to know what to expect before your feet ever leave the ground.

The good news? Adventure and safety aren’t opposites – they go hand in hand. At Go Ape, every adventure is designed to challenge you while giving you the knowledge, equipment, and support you need to climb with confidence.

Here’s a closer look at what that means.

Safety Starts Long Before You Arrive

Most guests only see the fun part of a Go Ape adventure – but there’s a lot happening behind the scenes before the first harness is clipped on.

Our teams work to prepare each course so guests can focus on enjoying the experience. That includes maintaining equipment, caring for the course, and making sure staff are ready to welcome climbers throughout the day.

Adventure parks don’t become safe by accident. They rely on consistent procedures, attention to detail, and a commitment to doing things the right way every single day.

Every Adventure Begins with a Safety Briefing

Before anyone heads into the trees, every participant receives a safety orientation.

During your briefing, our trained instructors will show you:

  • How your equipment works
  • How to move through the course safely
  • How to use the safety system correctly
  • What to expect once you’re in the trees
  • When and how to ask for assistance

You’ll also have the opportunity to practice using your equipment before beginning your adventure.

This isn’t a test, and there’s no rush. Our goal is to help every guest feel comfortable and confident before starting the course.

We Provide the Equipment – You Bring the Adventure

One of the easiest ways to prepare for your visit is simply showing up dressed appropriately.

Go Ape provides the specialized safety equipment you’ll need for your adventure, including your harness and other required gear.

Guests should arrive wearing:

Footwear is especially important. Shoes with open toes, open heels, or side openings – including many outdoor sandals – aren’t permitted on the course because they don’t provide the protection needed for climbing and navigating obstacles.

If you’re ever unsure about your footwear, check our What Shoes To Wear Ziplining Guide before your visit.

Our Team Is Here to Help

Trying something new can feel intimidating, especially if heights aren’t your favorite thing.

The good news is that you’re not expected to figure everything out on your own.

Our instructors are there to answer questions, explain the course, and provide guidance throughout your experience. If you need clarification before you begin or encouragement during your adventure, don’t hesitate to ask.

Many first-time guests arrive feeling nervous.

Many leave wondering why they were ever worried in the first place.

Adventure Happens at Your Pace

One of the biggest misconceptions about aerial adventures is that everyone has to move quickly.

That’s not the case.

Some guests fly through the course with confidence. Others take their time on every obstacle.

Both experiences are perfectly okay.

The goal isn’t to finish first – it’s to enjoy the adventure. Whether you’re celebrating each zipline or taking a few extra moments before stepping onto a rope bridge, you’re encouraged to move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Adventure should challenge you, not rush you.

What About Kids?

Parents often ask whether Go Ape is safe for children.

Every adventure has participation requirements based on factors like age, height, and supervision. These guidelines help ensure guests are matched with experiences that fit their stage of development and the design of the course.

Children also receive the same safety briefing and practice opportunities as adults before beginning their adventure.

Many families tell us that watching their children build confidence, solve problems, and encourage one another becomes one of the most rewarding parts of the day.

If you’re wondering whether your child is ready for their first adventure, check the requirements for your local Go Ape location before booking.

Safety Is a Partnership

One of the most important things to understand is that a safe adventure is a shared responsibility.

Our role is to provide well-designed courses, quality equipment, thorough training, and knowledgeable instructors.

Your role is to:

  • Listen during the safety briefing.
  • Follow instructor guidance.
  • Use equipment as demonstrated.
  • Wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
  • Ask questions if you’re unsure about anything.

When everyone works together, guests can focus on what they came for: an unforgettable outdoor adventure.

Why Thousands of Guests Choose Go Ape Every Year

For many people, Go Ape is their first experience climbing through the forest canopy.

By the end of the day, they’re not just talking about the ziplines – they’re talking about overcoming fears, encouraging friends, and discovering what they’re capable of.

Adventure has a unique way of building confidence.

It’s one thing to watch someone else complete a challenge. It’s another to realize you can do it yourself.

That feeling of accomplishment is what brings so many guests back again and again.

Ready to Climb with Confidence?

Feeling a few butterflies before your first adventure is completely normal.

That’s why every Go Ape experience begins with preparation, guidance, and the opportunity to learn before you ever step onto the course.

Whether you’re visiting with family, friends, coworkers, or celebrating a special occasion, our goal is simple: help you enjoy an exciting outdoor adventure while feeling informed, prepared, and supported every step of the way.

If you’re ready to experience the treetops for yourself, check your local Go Ape location for course information, participation requirements, and what to expect before your visit.

Your next adventure might be closer – and more achievable – than you think.
