Brazos River Grand Opening in March

Brazos River Park site of new adventure experiences for residents of all ages

SUGAR LAND, TX – February 7, 2023 – The City of Sugar Land and Go Ape, the nation’s premier Zipline & Adventure Park company, announced today that two brand new zipline and ropes courses will open to the public Saturday, March 11, at Brazos River Park in Sugar Land, TX. Go Ape will bring a variety of exciting outdoor activities to Sugar Land’s foremost recreation hub, including epic ziplines on the banks of the Brazos River. “We’re excited to partner with Go Ape Zipline and Adventure Park,” said Director of Parks and Recreation Joe Chesser. “Our citizens have asked for recreational amenities that benefit our residents and support our economy. Our master plan recommends pursuing public private partnerships that enhance recreational opportunities for our residents and increase activities that attract young adults and visitors to the city to help keep our tax rate among the lowest in the state for cities our size while funding the high level of services our residents expect Residents can expect very little infrastructure changes at the ground level, and there will be no impact to existing bike trails and other park amenities.” Go Ape will offer three unique activities for guests to explore the beautiful Brazos River Park, including the Treetop Adventure, a 3-hour high-ropes course featuring spectacular views. This experience includes 70 aerial crossings and obstacles, a massive Tarzan swing, and multiple thrilling ziplines up to 1000 feet, the longest in the Houston area. The Treetop Journey course is a fun-filled 1-hour experience including 20+ obstacles and two ziplines, all while 20 feet above the ground. Safety systems ensure participants stay attached the entire time they are on either course. The adventure park in Sugar Land will also include an Outdoor Axe Throwing range where participants can throw hatchets at targets and compete with their friends in various games and challenges. “This is a great partnership with the City of Sugar Land and we are very excited to offer these amazing adventures to participants of all ages and skill levels,” said Go Ape Chief Executive Officer, Vernon West. “Guests will have the opportunity to explore the trees from a new perspective, connect with the natural beauty of Brazos River Park, and build confidence while experiencing a variety of awesome outdoor activities.” Go Ape has 15 locations across the United States, including a site in Plano, TX at the Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve and a new site opening in Arlington, TX this spring.
