Doing The Right Thing

Thursday June 16, 2022

The Go Ape squad is always thinking of our core values: Live Life Adventurously, Be socially and environmentally responsible, Give a Tree-mendous Experience, and Do The Right Thing. Our adventures easily provide a tree-mendous time so to do the right thing, we make it a priority to give back and be responsible throughout the year. Here are just a few of the generous ways our Squad has recently helped our local communities:

Go Ape Rock Creek (Rockville, MD)

Our Go Ape Rockville team partnered with Montgomery County Parks’ Weed Warrior Native Planting project. They planted 150 nursery herbaceous natives in Rock Creek Regional Park.

Go Ape Freedom Park (Williamsburg, VA)

Partnered with James County Parks and Recreation, Go Ape Williamsburg built bat boxes and bird houses to place around Freedom Park. Our winged friends will now rest easy in the evenings.

Go Ape Mill Stream Run (Cleveland, OH)

Our team in Cleveland, Ohio assisted the Greater Cleveland Food Bank with their weekly food distribution event in downtown Cleveland. They were able to greet and assist each recipient when they arrived to get receive food.

Upcoming Stewardship Activities

Go Ape Memphis will be closed on June 27th to host a Park Clean-up Day in Shelby Farms Park. That’s how seriously we take our social and environmental responsibility! Our Go Ape Pittsburgh course is partnering with the Allegheny County Parks Foundation with their park focused projects throughout the year. Go Ape Nebraska in Ashland is planning a park clean-up event in the Fall that will be open to volunteers. And even if it isn’t on the calendar yet, all Go Ape Zipline and Adventure Park locations will begin planning Autumn activities after Labor Day.

Fundraising and Donations

Go Ape strives to always do the right thing, so in addition to getting out in our local communities, we support various underserved and special needs non-profit organizations to ensure everyone can take part in the Go Ape experience. So far, in 2022, Go Ape has donated over $40,000 in cash and free tickets. We’ve also partnered nationally with the Arbor Day Foundation, a non-profit conservation and education organization that inspires people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees and GRACE Gorillas, a GFAS-accredited organization that rehabilitates rescued gorillas and promotes the conservation of wild gorillas in their habitat. Not to mention that we give a percentage of every ticket sale back to the parks we call home so that they may reinvest in their park and preserve communities. Be on the lookout for things coming, like shelters and our Jo Ape fundraiser. We will continue to look for ways to better our communities and each other.

What’s Next?

We will be holding fundraisers, volunteer events, and ticket giveaways that benefit animal welfare non-profits in our local communities and our partners, GRACE Gorillas, throughout the summer months. Our site teams will also continue to work with our park partners to participate in environmental stewardship events, such as invasive species removals, park clean-ups, trail maintenance days, tree plantings, and more. We’ll continue to promote donations to our friends at the Arbor Day Foundation and GRACE Gorillas to every guest that books through our website and regularly through social and email campaigns. When temperatures begin to drop, we look forward to developing food donation events, supply drives, and partnering with Toys for Tots at our open course locations. Follow us on social media and sign up for our emails to join us in being socially and environmentally responsible this year – and even receive exclusive discounts and free tickets by doing the right thing alongside us.

If you represent a charitable non-profit near one of our local Go Ape Zipline and Adventure Parks and would like to request a ticket donation, please visit the Go Ape Zipline and Adventure Park Foundation website.
